The Role:
We are currently seeking a Surface Dressing Contract Manager to oversee carriageway and footway projects as part of our work with Surrey County Council. The role involves managing both operational and commercial aspects of surface dressing schemes, ensuring safe and efficient project delivery while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the safe execution of highway, footway, and carriageway surface dressing programs.
- Take ownership of both operational and commercial aspects of the projects.
- Lead weekly cost and value review meetings.
- Ensure seamless communication between senior management, clients, and on-site teams to meet budgets, timelines, and quality standards.
- Provide accurate project documentation, including programs and safety systems.
- Uphold the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Engage in Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) with clients, ensuring designs are practical and fit for purpose.
- Manage all phases of the construction process, ensuring adherence to industry standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 18001) and CDM regulations.
- Ensure the team is well-trained and competent, conducting site safety inspections to enforce best practices.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Current Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certification.
- Valid driving license.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a highways, construction, or civil engineering management role.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Project.
Desirable:
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Engineering or trade background.

- Safe and timely delivery of annual surface dressing programs.
- Achievement of business and personal objectives through the company’s appraisal system.
- Client satisfaction and prompt issue resolution.
