Island Roads (Ringway) is looking for a motivated and technically strong Highway Structures Project Manager to join our Structures Team on the Isle of Wight. With responsibility for around 200 bridges and 600 retaining walls, you’ll play a key role in managing some of the Island’s most important assets and ensuring they remain safe, resilient and fit for the future. Reporting to the Structures Manager, you will lead the delivery of a varied programme of structural improvement and lifecycle projects—taking schemes from early design through to construction, ensuring they meet our high technical, financial, commercial and safety standards. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, technical challenge, autonomy, and working collaboratively with a wide range of partners and stakeholders.

Duties

  • Managing multiple structures improvement, strengthening and lifecycle schemes across all project phases
  • Supporting the development of the annual structures programme
  • Creating clear, practical outline design solutions that meet asset needs
  • Securing all required approvals, permits and consents
  • Leading and coordinating design management activities
  • Ensuring projects meet all management, CDM, quality, safety and environmental requirements
  • Responding to technical queries, supporting temporary works and ensuring safe site operations
  • Engaging with residents, utilities, contractors, designers and the client to ensure smooth project delivery

Person Specification

Essential

  • HND / Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent
  • Relevant industry experience in civil engineering, structures or asset projects
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Excellent written, verbal and numerical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Confident communicator who can build positive working relationships

Desirable

  • Experience using MS Project and AutoCAD
  • Background in design management, lifecycle schemes or structural assessments
