Ringway is currently recruiting for a Supervisor to join the team on the Isle of Wight contract, supporting the delivery of key highways maintenance services across the network. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leadership role, overseeing a variety of services including grounds maintenance, drainage, street cleansing and winter operations, while managing both direct labour and subcontractors. Reporting to the Operations team, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of works across the contract. The role is predominantly office-based, but you will also be required to attend site as needed to support operational delivery and respond to issues. You will play a key role in planning works, managing teams, responding to enquiries and ensuring all activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with performance expectations.

Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate operational teams across highways maintenance activities
  • Manage programmes of work including grass cutting, tree maintenance, and weed control
  • Oversee drainage, street cleansing, and winter maintenance operations
  • Allocate resources and plan daily/weekly workloads
  • Respond to customer enquiries and complaints, ensuring timely resolution
  • Monitor performance, productivity and safety standards
  • Manage costs, order materials and oversee budget-related activities
  • Liaise with subcontractors and stakeholders to ensure effective delivery
  • Carry out site visits and inspections as required

Person Specification

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or team leadership role
  • Strong background in horticulture or grounds maintenance (essential)
  • Experience managing teams and coordinating operational activities
  • Good organisational and planning skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management ability
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience in highways maintenance, drainage or street cleansing
  • Knowledge of winter maintenance operations
  • Previous experience managing subcontractors
