About RINA Power Systems
The established 260 strong global Power Systems Business Unit supports growing market demands in power generation including environmental protection and the expansion of Hydrogen in energy. The 120 strong Engineering Power Systems team in the UK provides Engineering Consultancy in electricity distribution design, carbon capture, renewable generation and storage, grid connection, and earthing & lightning protection. We provide a vast array of consultancy services including site characterisation, concept & design, due diligence, procurement to operation & maintenance. Our clients include lenders, investors, TNOs/DNOs, OEMs, developers and other stakeholders on key power and renewable engineering projects.
RINA is looking for a highly experienced Power Systems Principal Consultant to lead a specialist and growing project team, delivering complex consulting projects for large power and electricity corporations. The portfolio is broad, advising clients on complex issues such as grid capacity, high voltage power line design, site surveys, carbon capture and other sustainable engineering solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to futureproof, develop and shape RINA's already established Power Systems capability in the UK, in a critical and transitioning sector. This role is based out of our Manchester office though RINA is a smart/hybrid working organisation. Moderate travel across the UK is required.
Role responsibilities:
- This is a hybrid managerial, technical delivery and commercial/business development role, with the weighting on technical delivery.
- P&L accountability for UK Power Systems Project Engineering/Consulting.
- Manage complex consulting project engagements.
- Manage the 3-5 strong Power Systems project management team, developing a high-performance culture: coach, mentor and resolve people issues with support from HR.
- Bid for resource from the Power Systems Engineering teams.
- Support the business development capability by identifying leads with new and existing clients.
- Understand future industry trends and influence internal stakeholders as to new opportunities for growth.
- Lead on commercial activities including pricing, contract profitability, resource planning and reporting contribution margin.
- Grow the team, leading on recruitment activities.
Qualifications & experience required:
- A minimum of 10 years professional services/consulting experience, specialising in Power Systems.
- P&L management experience between £3-20m.
- A minimum of 10 years working in technical delivery/project management, with demonstrable track record of successful project initiation and delivery.
- Expert knowledge of the Power Systems market with an understanding of the main players, pricing levels and strategies.
- Track record of developing new business on existing business and account management/development.
- Have a pragmatic outlook of the Power Systems market and steer operations towards future industry trends.
- Have a recognised Project Management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, Association for Project Management (APM) qualifications or Project Management Institute (PMI)).
