Excellent Business Development Manager (BDM) needed to join RINA's growing Energy, Power and Renewables Consulting business. You will be responsible for targeting and winning growth opportunities with Renewable energy (PV Solar, Battery, Wind) developers across the UK and Ireland.
RINA operates a hybrid working environment, provided you are happy to travel at short notice. Ideally you will be located within commutable distance from one of our offices in Leatherhead, Brighton or Manchester.
Responsibilities
- Sales and Business Development: Focus on generating new & repeat sales into existing and new markets; Conduct client visits and manage relationships with current and potential customers; Attend relevant conferences as a delegate or speaker to increase client network.
- Update Pipeline with New Prospects: Identify and add new potential clients to the sales pipeline; Develop go-to-market strategy, identifying prospects and assess their fit with RINA’s offerings.
- Lead and Support on Contracts and Tenders: Take a proactive role in negotiating and securing major contracts; Provide support in preparing tenders and quotations.
- Contract Closing and Lessons Learned: Lead activities to close contracts successfully; Capture lessons learned from completed contracts to improve future processes.
- Cross Selling and Mutual Opportunities: Collaborate with different departments within RINA to identify cross-selling opportunities.
- Competitor Tracking and Intelligence: Monitor competitor activities and provide updates on industry trends and intelligence; Use competitor information to adapt and improve the organisation's strategies.
- Alliances and Partnerships: Identify and explore opportunities for alliances and partnerships; Collaborate with external organizations to enter new markets and expand business reach.
Role Requirements
- 4-8 years’ Renewables domain knowledge, whether it be Solar, PV, Battery, Wind, Bioenergy and/or Tidal.
- At least five years’ experience of business development and new business sales, evidencing full cycle sales track record, and exceeding sales targets.
- Preferably a background in professional & engineering services or consulting.
- Proficient in sales techniques, including go-to-market planning, prospecting, lead generation, and closing deals.
- Strong networking and negotiation skills; build and sustain strong client relationships.
- Analytical thinking to assess market trends, competitor activities, and performance metrics to inform decision making.
- In-depth knowledge of the industry and competitive landscape to make informed business decisions.
- Familiarity with relevant technologies and tools, including CRM systems (i.e. Salesforce), to streamline business development processes.
