Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Technical Sales Manager based in Basildon. The candidate would be tasked with estimating and calculating piece prices for potential new business, managing the entire quotation process, overseeing the manufacture of tooling for successful bids, and ensuring smooth introduction and transition of new business. As the TSM you will manage your own schedule and help build relationships with potentially new customers and help maintain existing relationships. Please note this position will require some flexibility in relation to off-site meetings with potential customers.
Working hours - Monday to Thursday: 8am-5pm Friday 8am-1pm

TSM - Responsibilities
- Identify new business opportunities that align with the Company’s existing manufacturing capabilities.
- Accurately estimate and calculate piece prices for potential new business opportunities, ensuring competitive and profitable pricing strategies.
- Define and outline detailed tool specifications and seek quotations from toolmakers.
- Prepare and present comprehensive quotations to customers.
- Oversee the manufacture of tooling for successful quotations, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards.
- Manage the introduction of new business, ensuring a smooth transition from initial quotation to full production, while maintaining strong relationships with customers.
- Provide technical support to the mould shop, offering expertise on processing, tooling and materials.
- Manage the repair and modification of existing tooling when necessary to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions including visit reports and updates to ensure continuous growth and performance.
- Contribute to the creation and help maintain Marketing strategies to help support business growth.
- Support and manage Apprentices from local College to help invest in the future at Rimplas.
TSM - Requirements
- Background within engineering & relevant qualifications preferred (HND/Degree) but not essential.
- Understanding of injection moulding process & Polymers.
- Experience of post moulding operations including painting, inserting and mechanical Assy would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of engineering structural foam moulding (ESF) and Reaction Injection Polyurethane moulding (RIM) would be advantageous.
- Interest in or experience with sales/technical sales, with a proven ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in relation to tooling/component design for moulding and manufacturing challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as previous track record in business development.
- Ability to work effectively within a team, supporting cross-functional departments and contributing to a collaborative work environment.
