Rimkus is seeking an experienced Construction Delay Director to lead and manage delay analysis and project scheduling for complex construction projects. This senior role involves providing expert advice, overseeing delay claims, and supporting legal proceedings related to construction project delays.

As Construction Delay Director, you will collaborate with clients, legal professionals, engineers, and project managers to analyse causes and impacts of delays, prepare expert reports, and deliver expert testimony where required. You will play a critical role in dispute resolution, helping clients to understand delay risks and navigate complex scheduling challenges.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Directing the preparation and review of delay and disruption analyses.
  • Managing consultant teams.
  • Producing clear, technically sound schedules and reports to support claims and defenses.

Essential Job Functions

  • Report Writing: Authors own high quality Expert Reports or claims submissions/rebuttals. Final reviewer for RFP's and tenders for submission.
  • Commission Management: Sets programmes for delivery of the investigation, analysis and report writing production. Manages all aspects of individual commissions in line with the commission management plan. Prepares methodology, resourcing, and pricing strategy. Manages fee variations and client disputes.
  • Skilled at managing risk, liability, contractual performance.
  • Manages multiple commissions and teams.
  • Manages client satisfaction across commissions, striving to continuously improve Rimkus’s service offering.
  • Assists the Regional Director manage all commissions across an allocated region.

Business Development and Marketing:

  • Assists the Regional Director and Managing Director set the Regional Business Development Plan by identifying business opportunities within existing and new clients.
  • Develops and leads business development initiatives.
  • Successfully pitches for business at Executive level.
  • Leads in-house training for prospective clients and/or external training and seminar events.
  • Secures new client appointments.
  • Identifies and delivers business development initiatives for the business.
  • Negotiates fee proposals and client terms.
  • Writes articles for publication.
  • Leads and delivers client presentations.

People Management:

  • Acts as a Line Manager for Consultants, Senior Consultants and Associate Directors working in their business unit.
  • Achieves desired results through managing others.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Coaches team members by understanding their individual needs and learning styles. Acts as a mentor to people inside Rimkus. Capable of determining gaps in learning. Capable of constructively challenging others. Fosters a culture of learning and development. Implements continuous learning strategies. Collaborates with management to identify training needs for their teams and design appropriate development plans. Ensure alignment of training initiatives with broader business goals and strategies.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Developing relationships formed on trust.
  • Takes steps to avoid and manage conflict situations.
  • Proactively manages clients and responds to changes with their needs and expectations.
  • Manages conflict, creating consensus from difficult interpersonal relationships.

Financial Performance:

  • Identifies, bids and secures fee earning work to keep themselves and a team utilised in accordance with their personal performance target set for utilisation and GM.
  • Negotiates fees that exceed the minimum GM threshold.
  • Assists with debt collection and invoice validation.

Professional Excellence:

  • A recognised leader in their professional field.
  • Receives invites to contribute to panel discussions and other industry events.
  • Receives positive client feedback and a high level of repeat business.
  • Proactively supports a positive and inclusive company, including culture, reputation and financial success.

Requirements:

  • Possesses a relevant technical bachelor’s degree or certificate of higher education from a recognised institution.
  • Achievement of at least one construction professional membership from a relevant professional body (ICE, CIOB, PMP).
  • For individuals specialising in Construction Expert Witness work, achievement of at least one legal professional membership from a relevant professional body (CIArb, Academy of Expert, Expert Witness Institute).
  • For individuals specialising in Construction Expert Witness, achievement of a post graduate degree course in a related discipline such as Construction Law, Arbitration or equivalent.
