We are offering a unique and rewarding opportunity for a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor to join our highly respected team of technical Expert Witnesses. This role is ideal for individuals who are either experienced in Expert Witness work or those looking to transition into this specialist field. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team working on defect analysis, construction disputes, and insurance claims, supporting projects across the UK and internationally.
Essential Job Functions
- Candidates may either be looking for a first opportunity to become an Expert Witness or have already worked on defect analysis reporting, project dispute resolution and construction insurance claims.
- Previous experience must include full knowledge of investigating building fabric defects, UK industry standards compliance and construction methods.
- You should enjoy the wide variety of work arising from the investigation of defects and related causation reporting on large building projects disputes, both throughout the UK and internationally.
- This role provides a fantastic opportunity to greatly expand your technical and report writing skills and to grow your knowledge of forensic pathology, advisory consultancy, as well as construction and contract law.
- The role of the independent expert is a challenging and fulfilling next step in the career of chartered building surveyors and provides an opportunity to gain a rewarding and enjoyable specialisation.
Requirements
- An experienced MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor with 15+ years post degree experience is required, at Senior Surveyor or Associate Partner level as a general guide.
- Previous experience of investigating building fabric defects, industry standards compliance and construction methods.
- Preferable experience of defect analysis reporting, project dispute resolution and construction insurance claims or a proven appetite to move into this area.
- You must possess a detective mindset to find a defect cause and ability to write findings in a way that can be fully understood by a reader who may have no knowledge of the construction industry.
- Proven wide experience in good technical report writing is essential and sample reports will be required for review.
- Traditional CBS services such as contract administration, party wall and dilapidation work are not part of this role.
