The Opportunity
The Data Team at Rimes delivers cloud-based financial datasets across multiple asset classes to institutional investors worldwide. Data Developers at Rimes build and maintain tools to ingest, validate, and load data from a wide range of global sources into the Rimes platform. They are expected to be knowledgeable about global financial market data, contribute to custom client solutions and work closely with teams across time zones. Rimes' hand-off management style encourages initiative, problem-solving, and end-to-end ownership of data workflows.
Responsibilities
- Assisting designing, building, and maintaining ETL pipelines to ingest and transform financial datasets.
- Apply AI driven techniques to support automation, anomaly detection, data mapping, and workflow optimization.
- Work with structured and semi-structured data, ensuring accuracy through validation and transformation processes.
- Contribute to integrating new data sources and supporting ongoing feed changes from global vendors.
- Translate business and client requirements into clear workflows and data processes under guidance from senior team members.
- Support development of scalable solutions for diverse financial asset classes and investment systems.
- Use internal tools and collaboration systems to manage workflow tasks and communicate across teams.
Requirements
- Strong programming skills in Python, including experience with data processing libraries.
- Exposure to AI concepts (e.g., LLMs, embeddings, classification models) through coursework or hands-on projects.
- Familiarity with Git or similar version control systems.
- Bachelor's degree (or in progress) in a STEM field or related technical discipline.
- At least 1 year of relevant work, internship, or project experience in data-driven development.
- Detail oriented, analytical, and eager to learn new technologies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Proactive, able to manage time well, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Interested in data engineering and committed to building high quality, well-structured solutions.
Desired Experience
- Experience with SQL, XML, or REST APIs.
- Exposure to AI/ML frameworks or experience creating simple AI driven utilities.
- Familiarity with Databricks, Snowflake, or Parquet formats.
- Understanding of financial markets or financial datasets.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel in an analytical context.
- Programming experience in Perl.
