Rikama Education Ltd. are excited to be working with an SEMH behavioural school in the Medway area who are looking to recruit a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant. The school supports students from KS3 - KS5 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The school is set in a stunning picturesque location in Chatham, which adds to its unique and long running success. You will be joining a close-knit team who support their staff as much as their students, making for a great working and learning environment.
To be considered for these roles it is essential that you have the following experience:
- Experience supporting SEN children within sports lessons.
- Experience of supporting children/young adults with social and emotional support needs.
- An understanding and ability to build trust and empathise with students that have had challenging backgrounds.
- Experience supporting students within SEN schools or candidates with a mental health support/young offenders background would be strong candidates.
- Being of a resilient and firm nature when necessary.
Duties:
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and activities tailored to the needs of students.
- Provide one-on-one support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they can fully participate in classroom activities.
- Help create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes learning and personal development.
- Support students in developing social skills and independence through mentoring and tutoring.
- Collaborate with educators to adapt teaching materials and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to teachers on individual performance.
- Assist in the preparation of classroom resources and maintain an organised learning environment.
- Foster effective communication with students, parents, and staff to enhance the educational experience.
