Rikama Education are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Deputy Headteacher to support and manage at a local SEN school in Sittingbourne. This role of the Deputy Headteacher is to provide strategic leadership and professional management for the curriculum and assessment processes, to provide CPD and training to all educational staff, to ensure that safeguarding is supported within the school and support the Headteacher. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to make a positive impact on students' learning and progression. The role will initially be temporary with a transition onto a permanent contract after a probation period.
Key Responsibilities
- Working with the Headteacher, Directors and Governors (PAT) and others to further develop and deliver a bespoke curriculum provision which is person centred, and to ensure Assessment and Qualifications are in place to show progress and attainment.
- Ensuring a broad and balanced curriculum is provided holistically and sets high expectations so that students can achieve their maximum potential.
- Leading and challenging a team of teachers to ensure that excellent teaching and learning is provided.
- To work with and through others, including the Headteacher, Directors, governors (PAT), students, staff, parents and other members of the community to build a professional learning environment, which enables all to achieve.
- To provide effective management of the performance management systems for staff within the School, and to lead and seek ways of improving organisational structures and functions.
- Ensure that the school, the people and resources within it are organised and managed to provide an efficient, effective, and safe learning environment.
- Plan and teach well-structured lessons, impart knowledge and develop understanding through effective use of lesson time, promote a love of learning and children's intellectual curiosity, plan other out-of-class activities to consolidate and extend the knowledge and understanding students have acquired.
- Reflect systematically on the effectiveness of lessons and approaches to teaching.

- Qualified Teacher Status (Mandatory).
- Experience teaching SEN Needs.
- Deep knowledge of SEN Needs.

- Strong subject knowledge, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach to working with young people.
- A commitment to supporting students in achieving their full potential.
- A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
