Rigour Survey is a multi-disciplinary practice delivering survey, detection and digital engineering services. We don’t separate roles by job title. All our engineers work within one Geospatial Engineer role, building a baseline across Pure Survey, Detection & Utilities, CAD and Digital Engineering, and developing real depth in their specialism. Leadership is defined by responsibility, not tenure.
The role
As a Project Geospatial Engineer on the Detection & Utilities track, you’ll deliver independently and be accountable for the result. You’ll lead small to medium projects from data capture through to client-ready deliverables. You’ll deliver PAS:128 surveys within a defined scope under Lead oversight, with a Lead Geospatial Engineer responsible for final validation and formal PAS:128 sign-off.
What you’ll do
- Deliver PAS:128 surveys, and interpret and validate utility data
- Locate and trace services using electromagnetic location, ground penetrating radar and utility sonde tracing
- Record drainage and inspection chamber services
- Independently deliver standard surveys (topographical, building, engineering and detection)
- Select appropriate capture methods, and ensure completeness and accuracy on site
- Process and validate your own datasets, identifying and resolving data issues
- Make sure outputs meet client and specification requirements
- Lead small to medium projects, coordinating time, resources, outputs and site logistics
- Represent the business on site, communicate progress and issues, and flag and manage variations and risk
- Support and guide junior staff
What you’ll bring
- Competence in detection: delivering independently to the required standard, including PAS:128 work
- Competence in Pure Survey, CAD, Digital Engineering and Quality Assurance, in line with the framework’s Project level
- Hands-on experience with EML, GPR and sonde equipment, and confident subsurface interpretation
- The ability to work efficiently within scope and take ownership of outcomes
- Clear communication with clients and site teams
- A full UK driving licence
- Specialist depth in Detection & Utilities
- Progress towards chartership or recognised accreditations
What we offer
- £26,000 – £34,000, adjustable for depth of specialism and chartership
- 7 days’ paid sick leave
- Rewards programme and incentives
- WFH allowance and flexible working
- Transparent progression to Lead Geospatial Engineer (£37,000 – £43,000), based on performance rather than time served
