About us
One team. Global challenges. Infinite opportunities. At Viasat, we’re on a mission to deliver connections with the capacity to change the world. For more than 35 years, Viasat has helped shape how consumers, businesses, governments and militaries around the globe communicate. We’re looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.
What you'll do
As a senior manager in Viasat’s Growth Analytics team, you will guide a high-impact team of Analytics Engineers and Analysts to build reliable data models, scalable data products, and intuitive self-service tools powered by AI. You will collaborate with peers to shape and implement a data product roadmap while ensuring smooth daily operations of the team and platform. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to lead an influential area while remaining hands-on with complex and rewarding data challenges.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the “Analytics Engineering & Enablement” team in the delivery of data products that have tangible, measurable business impact.
- Build strategic partnerships across Engineering, IT, Insight, Data Led Sales, and the commercial segments. Over time, you will build detailed knowledge of the products and systems at Viasat to support data product design.
- Oversee and optimise data platforms (DBT, Prefect, BigQuery) in collaboration with Engineering and IT teams.
- Drive the development of the Growth Analytics strategic roadmap aligned to commercial priorities and Engineering objectives and key results.
- You will write code, develop data models or troubleshoot bugs to support the delivery of high-priority or high-complexity products.
The work we do in Growth Analytics underpins commercial outcomes, improves decision-making, and ensures Viasat remains at the forefront of delivering innovative connectivity solutions globally.
The day-to-day
Although no two days are the same, you will:
- Lead team prioritisation and check-in, fostering collaboration and removing obstacles to progress.
- Write and review SQL and Python code to support product delivery or platform operations in Growth Analytics.
- Collaborate with colleagues at Viasat to drive engagement in data products, improve platform stability, refine requirements, and champion Growth Analytics in cross-functional projects.
- Facilitate workshops and whiteboard sessions to design “gold standard” commercial data models that meet the needs of all Growth Analytics.
- Act as a mentor and coach for the team, supporting the development of both technical and non-technical skills as part of a high-functioning data team.
What you'll need
- Strategic Vision: Experience building an ecosystem of data products and flexible data models where the outcome provides value greater than sum of the individual parts.
- Technical Expertise: Strong SQL and Python skills; experience with BigQuery, DBT, and Prefect or similar.
- Leadership: A passion for mentoring and coaching with a delivery mentality; experience using Agile techniques in data.
- Collaboration: Ability to build cross-functional relationships and deep understanding of relevant adjacent domains.
What will help you on the job
At Viasat, we are dedicated to using data as a core enabler. An ideal candidate:
- Is an AI enthusiast, passionate about testing and introducing new technology to their collaborators as it evolves.
- Is naturally curious, seeking opportunities to work across multiple product lines, challenge assumptions and validate outcomes.
- Has the ability to anticipate future data needs and adapt solutions to evolving business needs.
