What you'll do
We are looking for an experienced Product Manager to join Viasat Aviation team under Advanced Non-Terrestrial Solutions. The primary purpose of this role is to be responsible for defining, developing, and leading Aviation Safety critical products and services used across civil and commercial aviation. On this role you will be working alongside industry experts in delivering regulatory, safety, and performance requirements to meet the needs of Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs), airlines and regulators. You are encouraged to implement a wide range of activities including handling internal and external partners, producing product reports, coordinating resources, tracking progress and performance, while ensuring that products are launched on time and successful throughout its lifecycle. You will report to the Aviation Product Management Director to ensure that outcomes are met, delivered on time and to agreed standards.
The day-to-day
- Lead the development of new products, project scope, key deliverables and achievements.
- Drive product evolution, roadmap, commercial requirements, market positioning, pricing and performance for key products.
- Identify and coordinate core requirements for key projects by working closely with Customers, Viasat’s business development and engineering teams.
- Define functional and non-functional requirements for key products across the aviation safety ecosystem.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Engineering, Operations and cross-business unit teams to deliver aviation compliant end-to-end solutions.
- Ensuring that engineering teams understand business requirements, vision and respective timeframe for product delivery.
- Lead the product roadmaps with a strong focus on market positioning, customers, and technical requirements in the context of the overall aviation safety market.
- Creation of product documentation to support the aviation safety business: including product functionality, features, market positioning, service specification, differentiation, and value proposition.
- Act as subject matter authority for Products and Services, while collaborating with internal and external partners.
- Engagement in customer support cases as SME, supporting internal teams from a product/service knowledge perspective.
- Undertake commercial analysis to support business strategic decision-making.
- Lead on the development and delivery of associated commercial business cases.
- Manage cross-functional team members (Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Contracts, etc.) as the need arises to support project execution.
- Manage Value Added Manufacturers (VAM) where needed to ensure delivery is timely and to specification.
- Conduct problem solving analysis and risk reviews to resolve product and project related issues and take vital actions to mitigate risk.
