Volunteer Family Law Advice Line Volunteers | Rights of Women
We are currently seeking qualified women solicitors, barristers, and legal executives in England and Wales to volunteer remotely and provide legal advice on our family law advice line.
What difference will you make?
Rights of Women\'s vision is to achieve equality, justice, and safety in the law for all women. As we approach our 50th anniversary in 2025, our mission is to advise, educate, and empower women by providing free, confidential legal advice through specialist women solicitors and barristers, enabling women to understand and benefit from their legal rights via accessible publications and training, and campaigning to ensure women\'s voices are heard in law and policy.
Clare, a volunteer since August 2019, encourages others to apply: “Do it! There are women across the country who need our help and will benefit from it. Volunteering requires just one 2-hour session per month from your home or office, and the IT is very easy to use. It’s also a great way to be part of a supportive volunteer community.”
What are we looking for?
The ideal volunteer will be:
- A woman solicitor, barrister, or CILEx member with a current practicing certificate
- Able to work remotely with good internet and a private space
- Possessing strong communication skills and the ability to deliver advice clearly and calmly
- Empathetic, non-judgemental, and non-discriminatory
- Knowledgeable in relevant family law
- Committed to equal opportunities and the aims of Rights of Women
What will you be doing?
As a volunteer, you will:
- Provide advice on our family law advice line for a minimum of one 2-hour session per month
- Attend training sessions provided by Rights of Women
- Offer clear, accurate legal advice to callers
- Maintain confidentiality and follow procedures for call records and monitoring
- Stay updated on relevant law
- Attend all scheduled remote sessions and inform us if unable to attend
- Adhere to our policies on equal opportunities and confidentiality
