Reports to: Infrastructure Engineering Manager
We are excited to invite a hands-on and experienced Modern Workplace Engineer to join our team and help drive the next stage of our digital workplace transformation! In this role, you will play a vital part in shaping and optimizing how we work and collaborate through Microsoft 365, modern device management platforms, collaboration tools, and digital experience monitoring technologies.
As a member of our small, multi-skilled IT team, you will have the opportunity to work across a broad modern workplace technology estate. You'll take on significant responsibilities for Amazon Connect, Atlassian Jira and Confluence administration, and Google Workspace, all within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. We're looking for someone who can operate confidently at the platform level, taking ownership of configuration, administration, governance, integration, and continuous improvement across these technologies while ensuring a secure, reliable, and seamless employee experience. This is a high-impact, hands-on role that is perfect for someone who is passionate about collaboration technologies, user experience, and modern device management.
What you'll be doing:
- Google Workspace Administration: Manage and optimise our Google Workspace environment, including user management, access controls, security, collaboration services, and platform governance.
- Amazon Connect Platform Ownership: Take ownership of Amazon Connect to continuously improve the platform and optimise contact flows, routing, queues, and permissions. You will act as a technical SME, working with stakeholders to enhance the user/customer experience.
- Atlassian Application Management: Shape and evolve Jira and Confluence across the organization through effective workflows, permissions, schemes, automation, integrations, and governance, ensuring scalability and alignment with business processes.
- M365 Platform Ownership: Manage and evolve our Microsoft 365 environment (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Viva, and related services), ensuring availability, security, and adoption across the organization.
- Modern Device Management: Design, configure, and maintain device lifecycle management through Microsoft Intune and JAMF, driving a secure, zero-touch approach to provisioning and compliance.
- Digital Employee Experience (DEX): Own and optimise our digital user experience using DEX tooling to monitor, analyse, and continuously improve the end-user digital experience across all endpoints. Use insights to identify performance bottlenecks, enhance device health, and proactively resolve issues before they impact users.
- Automation & Process Improvement: Implement automation using PowerShell, Power Automate, and other M365 admin tools to simplify provisioning, onboarding, and access management.
- Security & Compliance Collaboration: Partner with our Security team to embed identity protection, conditional access, DLP, and compliance policies into all workplace tools.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain accurate technical documentation and contribute to the team’s knowledge base, ensuring that systems are well understood and knowledge is shared across the team.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Deep hands-on experience administering Amazon Connect, with the ability to configure, support, and optimise contact centre capabilities including contact flows, routing, queues, permissions, and integrations.
- Proven Atlassian administration experience across Jira and Confluence, including workflows, schemes, permissions, automation, governance, and platform configuration within a complex organisational environment.
- Demonstrable Google Workspace administration experience, including identity, access, collaboration services, security controls, user lifecycle management, and platform governance.
- Strong hands-on experience managing Microsoft 365 environments (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive).
- Practical experience with Microsoft Intune & JAMF for device and application management.
- Good understanding of identity and access management with Entra ID, Conditional Access, and MFA.
- Experience implementing collaboration governance, lifecycle management, and Teams/SharePoint structure.
- Experience implementing or managing DEX tooling (e.g. Nexthink, Lakeside SysTrack, or similar) to measure and enhance user experience and endpoint performance.
- Scripting and automation skills in PowerShell or Power Automate.
- Familiarity with Windows Autopilot and hybrid join scenarios.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and manage multiple priorities.
What you'll bring to the role:
- A passion for enabling people through technology and delivering an exceptional workplace experience.
- Broad technical ownership across modern workplace and SaaS platforms with the ability to move confidently between Amazon Connect, Atlassian applications, Google Workspace, M365, and Endpoint technologies.
- Strong security awareness and the ability to implement compliant, secure workplace practices.
- A continuous improvement mindset and a desire to automate manual processes.
- Experience working in small, agile technology teams, demonstrating the ability to contribute across a broad range of tools and platforms, including areas outside your core remit.
- Strong understanding of IT security practices and experience working alongside security teams to ensure infrastructure is resilient and compliant.
- A hands-on approach to infrastructure modernisation, with an emphasis on monitoring, automation, and operational efficiency.
- Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills, with the ability to operate independently and take initiative in a dynamic environment.
