Role Overview

We’re seeking an experienced Lead Product Designer to join our Experience Design (XD) team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and manage a Senior Product Designer and User Researcher.
  • Own the end‑to‑end design vision for our Partners, shaping how consumers and Estate Agents connect with each other.
  • Create intuitive, trusted experiences that support both consumers and Estate Agents.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Product, Senior Product Manager, Senior Product Designer and User Researcher to deliver user‑centric solutions aligned with product strategy.
  • Remain hands‑on where valuable – exploring ideas, setting quality standards, and guiding execution.
  • Define a long‑term vision for Partners that inspires stakeholders and influences roadmaps.
  • Work across product, engineering, research, design systems, and commercial teams to drive alignment and strategic outcomes.
  • Explore and define opportunities for products and features.
  • Ensure consistency across platforms, establishing scalable patterns, and supporting the evolution of the design system.
  • Report to and work closely with the Head of Experience Design.
  • Hybrid – 2 days per week in the Soho, London office and 3 days from home.
  • Partner with the Head of Product, Engineering leadership, and the other Lead Product Designer in the domain, contributing to strategic decisions aligned to business objectives and key results.
  • Conduct generative research for discovery, leverage insights and data to inform decisions and long‑term planning.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the user experiences you work across.
  • Provide a holistic view of your domain, supported by insights, data, and clear articulation of user problems and opportunities.
  • Raise product design quality across UX, visual, content, and interaction design and adoption of the design system, promoting reuse and consistency with Brand and code.
  • Champion inclusive and accessible design practices, ensuring standards are upheld.
  • Represent XD within Rightmove and stay engaged with best practice and industry trends.
  • Support team hiring and recruitment when needed.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in designing complex, multi‑sided platforms or marketplace experiences, ensuring interactions between multiple users feel intuitive, trustworthy, and high‑performing.
  • Experience managing and developing Product Designers with clarity, coaching, and support.
  • Curiosity and creativity in exploring new technologies and approaches, including the responsible use of AI in design.
  • Ability to influence design direction through insights, evidence, and rapid conceptual thinking.
  • Leadership skills in recruitment and onboarding, providing clear direction and continuous feedback.
  • Excellent collaboration, effective communication and storytelling skills with leadership, stakeholders and peers, building trust and nurturing strong relationships.
  • A passion for continuous learning and development, with a proactive approach to enhance ways of working and collaboration, contributing to design operations for XD.
  • A strong grasp of design systems, interaction patterns and scalable frameworks.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to balance business goals, including commercial opportunities with user needs and long‑term product vision.
