Key Responsibilities
- Design and produce clear, high-quality tracking specifications for product engineers to implement in the data layer.
- Meticulously QA implemented data layer tracking to ensure adherence and data quality.
- Set up efficient best practice tagging in Google Tag Manager to pass data into GA4 and marketing platforms.
- Troubleshoot and debug tracking issues with a methodical and logical approach, making use of SQL in BigQuery to assist.
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for differentiation and product improvement.
- Work with data scientists, data engineers and analytics engineers to ensure tracking enables all downstream data initiatives.
- Interpret tracking requests from the product team to ensure we’re collecting the data needed to answer their questions.
- Collaborate with product analysts and the senior implementation specialist on delivery and new initiatives.
- Maintain a very strong and up-to-date understanding of key platforms (Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Firebase).
- Develop and maintain a strong, up-to-date understanding of the other platforms we support with Google Tag Manager (Hotjar, VWO, Comscore, Braze, Google Ads, Campaign Manager).
- Help maintain and evolve best practices within the tracking and tagging space.
We Are Looking For Someone Who
- Has a very strong attention to detail.
- Has strong experience with data layer tracking and using Google Tag Manager.
- Can use a variety of tools (browser dev tools, app emulators, SQL in BigQuery) to troubleshoot tracking issues.
- Has a solid understanding of Google Analytics, particularly in how it receives and processes data.
- Can translate analytical and performance questions into a coherent and efficient tracking solution.
- Thrives in a dynamic environment, readily adapting to changing priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
- Stays informed about industry advancements and emerging data technologies to drive continuous improvement.
- Has experience using custom Javascript/HTML tags in GTM (beneficial but not essential).
