The Job Coach Role
Right2Work is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Job Coach to join our Supported Internship team based in Carlisle and surrounding areas across Cumberland, therefore a driving license and car is essential. This is an exciting opportunity to support young adults with learning disabilities and/or Autism who have an EHCP- Educational Health and Care Plan, supporting to identify suitable work placements.
We deliver a Supported Internship programme helping learners to progress with their independence and look at paid role opportunities, following conversations from current employers and potential employers.
The role will begin with a classroom-based focus for the first 6 weeks, supporting learners to develop employability skills and prepare for the workplace. Following this, the role will transition into job coaching, where you will support a group of young adults in their work placements. This includes providing on-site support, building employer relationships, helping interns succeed in real working environments, and supporting with interview skills and travel training where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
Support interns in developing employability and independence skills
Deliver and assist with classroom-based sessions during the initial programme phase
Provide in-work support and job coaching in a variety of placement settings
Liaise with employers to ensure positive and meaningful placement experiences, and with additional support networks such as EHCP coordinators, careers advisors, adult social workers, parents/guardians and families where appropriate
Update and maintain accurate learner records/support notes via our online system, along with contributing to reviews, progression reports and assessments.
Promote confidence, independence, and long-term employment outcomes

Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate individuals from diverse backgrounds
High level of honesty and integrity, building trust with clients, employers, and colleagues
Good understanding of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and the ability to adapt support accordingly
Empathetic approach, with the ability to understand and respond to individual needs and challenges
Proactive mindset, taking initiative to support interns in achieving their goals
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Organised and adaptable, with good problem-solving skills
About You
You will be passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and committed to helping them achieve their potential in the workplace. Experience in education, employability, or support work is desirable but not essential.
You must hold Full Driving license and use of a vehicle for work. An Enhanced DBS will be required for each successful candidate (Paid for by Right2work, T&Cs apply).
