We are currently seeking an experienced Principal Designer to join a growing construction consultancy team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations 2015, managing health & safety risks during the pre-construction phase, and supporting the successful delivery of a wide range of residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive professional looking to work on diverse and high-profile developments within a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as Principal Designer in accordance with CDM Regulations 2015
  • Advising clients on their duties and responsibilities under CDM
  • Coordinating health & safety during the pre-construction phase
  • Identifying, eliminating, and reducing foreseeable health & safety risks in design
  • Liaising with clients, architects, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Reviewing and assessing design risk information and construction documentation
  • Preparing and managing pre-construction information packs
  • Supporting the preparation and review of health & safety files
  • Attending design team meetings and site visits where required
  • Promoting safe design principles and best practice across projects

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Principal Designer or CDM Consultant
  • Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and construction health & safety legislation
  • Experience within construction, consultancy, architecture, engineering, or surveying environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent desirable
  • Membership of APS, IOSH, RICS, CIOB, or similar professional body preferred
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
