About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Clerk of Works to join our team based in Birmingham.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality managing a broad range of projects, to achieve the best standards and value for the client.
  • Be responsible for the highest possible quality standards for every project.
  • Act as Clerk of Works on development sites and represent the Employer’s Agent and Client in all new build, conversion or refurbishment projects.
  • Visit sites as directed by Project Manager/Employer’s Agent and Quantity Surveyor to ensure works are carried out in accordance with drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor and record the quality of materials and workmanship on site and ensure these meet client and our standards and specifications.
  • Ensure building standards for health and safety and workmanship are being met and report these to relevant persons.
  • Undertake snagging and defect inspections with the developer or contractor and report these.
  • Prepare schedules of correcting defects for notification to the contractor.
  • Retain a record of site inspections and communications with the contractor, other consultants and specialists.
  • Prepare and submit weekly written reports to the Employer’s Agent/Client Representative.
  • Carry out surveys and produce schedules when requested by the Employer’s Agent/Client Representative.
  • Help to manage and mentor junior staff.
  • Create a team environment in which everyone is committed to producing a quality outcome.
  • Gain the confidence of the client.
  • Liaise with other members of the team to ensure consistency of service delivery and identify opportunities for developing both the quality and profitability of the service.
  • Ensure that control procedures are in place and adhered to in all areas of the business.
  • Ensure that Project Manager/Employer’s Agent/Quantity Surveyor and Director have qualified information on the progress of each project on a regular basis.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 1 year of on-site experience as Clerk of Works.
  • Health & Safety implementation and monitoring.
  • A strong track record in the construction industry, demonstrating a progressive career path.
