We are currently recruiting for an experienced Clerk of Works to join our team based in Birmingham.

Key Responsibilities of a Clerk of Works:

  • Quality managing a broad range of projects, to achieve the best standards and value for the client.
  • Be responsible for the highest possible quality standards for every project.
  • Acting as Clerk of Works on development sites and represent the Employers Agent and Client in all new build, conversion or refurbishment projects.
  • You will visit sites as directed by Project Manager/Employers Agent and Quantity Surveyor to ensure works are carried out in accordance with the drawings and specification.
  • You will monitor and record the quality of materials and workmanship on site and ensure these meet client and our standards and specifications.
  • You will ensure building standards for health and safety and workmanship are being met and report these to relevant persons.
  • You will undertake snagging and defect inspections with the developer or contractor and report these.
  • You will prepare schedules of making good defects for notification to the contractor.
  • Retain a record of site inspections and communications with the Contractor, other consultants and specialists.
  • Prepare and submit weekly written reports to the Employer’s Agent/Client Representative.
  • Carry out surveys and produce schedules when requested by the Employers Agent/Client Representative.
  • Help to manage/mentor junior staff.
  • To create a team environment in which everyone is committed to producing a quality outcome.
  • To gain the confidence of the client.
  • To liaise with other members of the team to ensure consistency of service delivery and to identify opportunities for developing both the quality and profitability of the service.
  • To ensure that control procedures are in place and adhered to in all areas of the business.
  • To ensure that Project Manager/Employers Agent/Quantity Surveyor and Director has qualified information on the progress of each project on a regular basis.

Experience required for Clerk of Works role:

  • Minimum 1 year’s on-site experience as Clerk of Works.
