Team Leader Roles & Responsibilities
The following is a job description for the currently vacant Team Leader role.
- PPS (Pick, Pack & Ship)
- Conduct shift briefings, allocate tasks, and monitor progress throughout the shift.
- Lead, motivate, and support a team of warehouse operatives to achieve daily operational targets.
- Organise and process customer orders, including customer specific requirements, and ensure timely despatch of stock.
- Assist with picking, packing, goods in, and goods out processing as required.
- Complete shift handovers.
- Provide regular updates and reports to management.
- Engage in internal discussions with fellow Team Leaders as necessary.
- Ensure the team are working safely to achieve customer requirements.
- Ensure equipment is used safely and maintained appropriately.
- Maintain a safe working environment by complying with statutory law, company policy, and health & safety guidelines.
- Check that MHE check sheets are being completed daily.
- Ensure deliveries are unloaded within given time scales and checked against purchase orders, reporting any errors to the parties concerned.
- Control loading and unloading of all internal transfer and external goods.
- Ensure accuracy when loading vehicles, maintaining safe load standards.
- Load and unload vehicles in a safe manner using manual handling or forklift equipment.
- Ensure Bay doors and Ramps are used in a safe and correct manner.
- Work closely with customer service and stock control to resolve order issues.
- Monitor and maintain accuracy of stock and inventory records.
- Check orders after picking for accuracy, advising warehouse staff of any errors to minimise future discrepancies.
- Assist with stock investigations and customer stock takes and process optimisation activities.
- Allocate available team resources to meet daily order volumes and deadlines.
- Provide coaching and training to staff, ensuring multi-skilling and development across the team while maintaining morale.
- Promote a positive, team-focused working environment with a strong emphasis on teamwork.
- Provide the team with necessary tools and ensure smooth, efficient operations.
- Oversee and ensure completion of general daily duties.
- Manage warehouse operatives and ensure they are meeting business expectations, reporting non-compliance via the appropriate channels.
- Maintain order and care for warehouse property, equipment, and materials.
- Conduct team evaluations, training sessions, and safety briefings.
- Ensure warehouse projects are completed and meet the required standards.
- Demonstrate a keen eye whilst working under pressure.
Overall objectives will be further developed in line with the company's strategic objectives.
