A well-established organisation within the freight, logistics and courier sector is looking to appoint a Finance Assistant to support the finance team with day-to-day accounting activities. This role will play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of finance operations and meeting month-end and reporting deadlines.
The position will cover both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, with exposure to management accounts and reconciliations, making it a well-rounded role for someone looking to develop within finance.
Key Responsibilities- Accounts Receivable
- Raising sales invoices from the operating system and uploading into accounting software with correct coding
- Producing manual invoices when required
- Sending statements and chasing overdue payments
- Resolving customer billing queries
- Accounts Payable
- Processing purchase invoices
- Supporting supplier payment runs
- Handling supplier queries
- General Finance Duties
- Transferring data between finance systems
- Allocating customer and supplier receipts
- Completing monthly reconciliations, including bank, debtor and creditor accounts
- Supporting with ad-hoc finance tasks as required
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (Grade A-C)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working to deadlines and under pressure
- Intermediate Excel skills
- High attention to detail
- Previous experience in a similar finance role
- Experience using accounting systems such as Sage and Microsoft Business Central
- Experience within logistics, freight or a related industry
