Fine Art Technician

Our client is seeking an experienced Fine Art Technician to join their specialist art logistics team.

This is a hands‑on role focused on the safe handling, transportation, packing and installation of fine art and valuable objects.

The successful candidate will have previous experience within fine art installation and handling, with the confidence to work directly with galleries, museums, private clients and other high‑profile environments.

You will work as part of a two‑person crew, representing the company professionally while delivering a high level of customer service.

Up to £40,000, depending on experience

Hours

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (Flexibility is required, as working hours may vary depending on installations, collections, deliveries and client requirements.)

Responsibilities

  • Safely handle, pack, transport and install a wide range of fine art, including paintings, sculptures, installations and delicate objects.
  • Carry out fine art installations and de-installations at galleries, museums, private residences, exhibitions and art fairs.
  • Work as part of a two-person crew, coordinating effectively to ensure artworks are handled and transported safely.
  • Load and unload artwork using appropriate lifting, handling and securing techniques.
  • Attend galleries and client sites, providing a professional and customer‑focused service.
  • Liaise directly with clients, gallery staff, conservators, registrars and other stakeholders throughout projects.
  • Complete condition checks and report any damage, discrepancies or concerns.
  • Maintain accurate condition reports, packing lists, inventory records and other project documentation.
  • Ensure vehicles, tools and specialist handling equipment are maintained and kept in good working order.
  • Support warehouse operations, including artwork intake, inventory management, packing and storage.
  • Ensure all artwork is handled in accordance with company procedures and industry best practice.
  • Travel throughout the UK and occasionally internationally for installations and exhibition projects.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion and attention to detail when working with valuable and sensitive artwork.
  • Key Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in fine art handling and installation is essential.
  • Experience working within a fine art logistics, gallery, museum or similar environment.
  • Strong understanding of fine art packing, handling, transportation and installation techniques.
  • Comfortable working directly with galleries, museums and private clients.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Confident and professional when working in client‑facing environments.
  • Strong attention to detail when handling valuable and delicate items.
  • Good physical ability and awareness of safe lifting and handling techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a two‑person crew.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and willingness to travel when required.
