Right Now Group is seeking an experienced Import Coordinator to join a busy and dynamic freight forwarding team. This role is responsible for managing airfreight import shipments from origin through to final delivery, ensuring exceptional customer service, operational efficiency, and compliance with all relevant customs and industry regulations. The successful candidate will work closely with customers, overseas agents, customs teams, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure shipments are handled accurately, efficiently, and on time.
Key Responsibilities of Import Coordinator
- Manage and coordinate all aspects of airfreight import shipments from booking through to final delivery.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers, providing shipment updates and resolving queries promptly and professionally.
- Liaise with overseas agents, customers, and service providers to ensure the smooth and timely movement of freight.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively identify and resolve any operational issues or service failures.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and business partners.
- Support the invoicing process by reviewing shipment files for accuracy, cost control, and profitability.
- Prepare and provide customer quotations, demonstrating a good understanding of freight pricing structures.
- Process, verify, and submit supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Obtain customs clearance instructions and coordinate closely with customs clearance teams.
- Respond to urgent transport and operational issues before escalation is required.
- Manage revenue and cost controls to maximise profitability across shipments.
- Ensure all compliance procedures and checks are completed accurately and reported appropriately.
- Work collaboratively with management to identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
Shift: Monday to Friday Hours: 09:00 to 17:30 Salary: £30,000 to £35,000
Skills & Attributes of Import Coordinator
- Previous experience working within airfreight imports.
- Strong knowledge of customs procedures and import compliance requirements.
- Customs entry experience and knowledge.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- High attention to detail and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- Knowledge of cross-trade procedures.
- Experience using freight forwarding systems such as ASM, FCL, or similar platforms.
- Minimum of two years' experience within an airfreight import environment.
