Import Manager - Responsibilities
As the Import Manager, you will be responsible for
- Leading, coaching and developing the Import Operations team.
- Managing day-to-day import operations across Air Freight, Customs and multimodal movements.
- Ensuring departmental KPIs, service levels and productivity targets are achieved.
- Acting as the senior escalation point for operational, customs and customer service matters.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, airlines, overseas agents and HMRC.
- Supporting customer implementations and attending customer review meetings.
- Managing departmental budgets, costs and overall financial performance.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
- Recruiting, developing and retaining a high-performing operations team.
- Import Manager - Requirements
To be successful in this role you will ideally have
- 7-10 years' experience within Freight Forwarding, Customs or Import Operations.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience managing operational teams within a freight forwarding environment.
- Strong knowledge of Air Freight Imports, Customs Brokerage and multimodal freight movements.
- A solid understanding of HMRC regulations and customs compliance.
- Experience managing KPIs, SLAs, productivity and operational performance.
- Commercial awareness, including budget management and cost control.
- Strong leadership, coaching and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- A proactive approach with a passion for continuous improvement.
