Right Now Group are looking for a Sea Freight Export Clerk to join our client, working on a remote basis. Our client is a dynamic and rapidly growing logistics firm specialising in global freight forwarding and supply chain solutions. The Sea Freight Export Clerk will have a strong background in sea freight logistics, particularly in export operations. This role requires expertise in coordinating shipments, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
Responsibilities of a Sea Freight Export Clerk:
- Manage end-to-end export processes for sea freight shipments, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Manage several key accounts to facilitate the clients' sea freight export movements (approximately 40 shipments per month).
- Coordinate with international suppliers, carriers, and agents to secure bookings and negotiate freight rates.
- Prepare and review shipping documents, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations and other government agencies' requirements.
- Monitor shipment status and provide updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Handle shipment discrepancies and resolve any issues related to customs clearance or delivery delays.
- Complete sea freight entries.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with the warehouse and distribution teams to optimise logistics and inventory management.
The Successful Sea Freight Export Clerk:
- Proven experience in sea freight exports, with a strong understanding of international shipping procedures and regulations.
- Familiarity with customs clearance processes and documentation requirements.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues.
- Experience using Boxtop & ASM Sequoia / CDS would be ideal.
