Right Now Group is working with a well-established logistics company specialising in multimodal freight forwarding. With a location near London Heathrow, they efficiently manage import and export requirements via Air, Road, and Sea.

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Ocean Import Operator to join their close-knit team of four. This full-time, on-site role will focus primarily on sea freight operations with additional involvement in air freight shipments.

Hours: Monday – Friday

Key Responsibilities – Ocean Import Operator

  • Coordinate import shipments via sea and air freight, ensuring the timely and compliant movement of goods.
  • Manage end-to-end shipment processes, from quotation through to final delivery and invoicing.
  • Use internal systems to complete shipment documentation and operational processes.
  • Provide accurate quotations to customers within agreed timeframes and service level expectations.
  • Liaise with approved third-party suppliers, carriers, and overseas agents to arrange the transportation of goods.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with customers, suppliers, agents, and internal colleagues to ensure shipment requirements are met.
  • Monitor and manage shipment profitability, ensuring invoices are raised accurately in line with agreed rates and tariffs.
  • Resolve operational challenges, shipment delays, or customer queries in a proactive and timely manner, escalating where necessary.
  • Ensure all shipments are handled in line with relevant legislation, customs regulations, and company procedures.
  • Work closely within a small team environment to support operational efficiency and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete administrative duties in line with company policies.

Key Requirements – Multimodal Operator

  • Proven experience in multimodal freight operations for both sea and air.
  • Strong sea freight knowledge with some air freight exposure.
  • Previous exposure to systems such as Cargowise would be advantageous but is not essential.
