Right Now Group are representing a well-established Freight Forwarding business based in the Kenilworth area who are currently recruiting for an Ocean Import Operator to join their busy operations team. Our client is seeking an experienced and organised individual to manage ocean import shipments from origin through to final delivery, ensuring all customs, operational and customer requirements are handled efficiently and compliantly.
Position: Ocean Import Operator (Hybrid)
Location: Kenilworth
Hours: Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:30
Salary: £30,000
Key Responsibilities for an Ocean Import Operator:
- Coordinate ocean import shipments from booking through to final delivery.
- Liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers, customs brokers and customers to ensure the smooth movement of freight.
- Arrange customs clearance and ensure all import documentation is accurate and fully compliant.
- Monitor shipment progress, resolving any delays or operational issues in a timely manner.
- Provide customers with regular shipment updates throughout the import process.
- Process supplier invoices, verify costs and prepare accurate customer billing.
- Ensure all shipment files are completed correctly and closed within company KPIs.
- Maintain compliance with customs regulations, company procedures and security requirements.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational processes and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Skills for an Ocean Import Operator:
- Previous experience within Ocean Imports or Freight Forwarding is essential.
- Good understanding of international shipping documentation and import procedures.
- Knowledge of customs clearance processes.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
