Right Now Group are working with a Freight Forwarder based in Aylesbury, assisting with their search for a Customs Clearance Clerk. As a Customs Clearance Clerk, you will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with HMRC and Border Force regulations. Over time, you will play a key role in developing this area of the business, providing exceptional service to both customers and internal stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will cover all aspects of the import and export process, including tracking shipments, handling Border Force or Trading Standards holds, and resolving any customs system issues.
Responsibilities of a Customs Clearance Clerk:- Maintain accurate filing and archiving of all import and export records.
- Perform quarterly internal audits on compliance, import/export entries, ETSF procedures, CFSP, and AEO audits.
- Ensure full compliance with all HMRC and Border Force regulations in the operation of an ETSF.
- Ensure full compliance with documentation requirements and stay updated on HMRC/Border Force regulations, whether system-based or manual.
- Proactively address HMRC/Border Force queries and issues, such as CDS errors.
- Conduct warehouse and duty management system analysis.
- Strong working knowledge of customs formalities and legislation for both imports and exports, with a solid understanding of CFSP and ETSF procedures.
- Build and maintain strong business relationships with customers and suppliers, demonstrating excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong written communication skills, along with the ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving techniques.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively organize and lead a team while being attentive to the needs of others.
- Must be decisive and capable of making critical decisions under pressure.
- Knowledge of customs procedures and regulations is desirable.
- Familiarity with NCTS or CDS would be advantageous but not essential.
Salary: 30,000 - 35,000 (dependant on experience)
Location: Aylesbury
Shift: Mon-Fri (09:00 - 17:00)
