Right Now Group are currently recruiting for an experienced AOG Operator on behalf of an expanding freight forwarding business based near Heathrow.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing air freight operation, taking responsibility for the day-to-day coordination of AOG (Aircraft on Ground) and time-critical shipments. The successful candidate will ensure export shipments are processed efficiently, documentation is completed accurately in line with HMRC regulations, and urgent customer requirements are managed from collection through to final delivery.

Working within a fast-paced operational environment, you will liaise with customers, overseas agents, transport providers and internal teams to deliver exceptional service while maintaining compliance, controlling costs, and responding proactively to time-critical operational demands. This role is ideal for someone with previous AOG or air freight operations experience who thrives under pressure and enjoys problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities of an AOG Operator

  • Manage AOG and time-critical shipments from start to finish.
  • Monitor and action generic email inboxes, responding promptly to customer and operational enquiries.
  • Arrange collections and deliveries with transport providers and vendors.
  • Produce shipping documentation, including MAWBs and HAWBs.
  • Prepare export and import customs entries in accordance with UK HMRC regulations.
  • Complete post-flight procedures and ensure shipment records are updated accurately.
  • Process job file invoicing while maintaining effective cost control.
  • Monitor pending work queues and ensure outstanding actions are completed daily.
  • Monitor live AOG updates and respond quickly to operational changes.
  • Adapt to changing customer requirements by identifying alternative transport solutions where necessary.
  • Investigate and resolve customer, supplier and internal operational queries promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure customer invoicing is completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Communicate all received freight rates to the Team Leader.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and ensure compliance with company procedures.

Skills & Experience Required for an AOG Operator

  • Previous experience within Air Freight Operations, ideally specialising in AOG or time-critical logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of air freight operations and shipping documentation, including MAWBs and HAWBs.
  • Good understanding of UK HMRC export regulations and customs procedures.
  • Experience handling urgent shipments within a fast-paced freight forwarding environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities with the confidence to make decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing customer requirements and operational priorities.
  • Good IT skills and experience using freight forwarding systems.

Salary & Benefits for an AOG Operator
