Our client is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support and develop their Health & Safety standards within a busy manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who is confident working on the shopfloor/factory, engaging with employees and managers, and driving practical improvements to workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide practical H&S advice and guidance to managers and employees.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments, ensuring actions are completed.
  • Manage COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Deliver H&S inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
  • Maintain H&S records, registers and statutory documentation.
  • Support emergency procedures, drills and contractor management.
  • Work closely with Production and Maintenance teams to identify hazards and improve safety controls.
  • Drive H&S improvement projects and promote a positive safety culture across the site.

Skills & Qualifications

NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) - essential.

  • IOSH membership or working towards membership.
  • Proven H&S advisory experience within a

Manufacturing, Recycling, Food Production or Factory environment - highly desirable.

  • Strong practical experience of Risk Assessments, audits, inspections and incident investigations.
  • Good knowledge of UK H&S legislation and HSE expectations.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to coach, influence and challenge constructively.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent report-writing skills.
  • Comfortable working directly on the shopfloor and within a PPE environment.

Desirable Experience

  • ISO 45001 internal auditing.
  • Fire safety.
  • Contractor and permit-to-work systems.
  • COSHH, LEV, DSEAR or health surveillance.
  • NEBOSH Fire Certificate or equivalent.
