Right Now Group are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Pricing Executive to join our client's established freight forwarding operation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced pricing professional to take ownership of the pricing function while leading and supporting a small team of two Pricing Executives.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the team's workload, overseeing pricing activity, securing competitive supplier rates and ensuring quotations are both commercially competitive and profitable.

You will work closely with Sales and Operations, as well as airlines, shipping lines, hauliers, overseas agents and other logistics providers, playing a key role in supporting existing customers, new business opportunities and tenders.

Key Responsibilities of a Senior Pricing Executive:

  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the pricing function and ensure enquiries are managed efficiently.
  • Lead, support and develop a team of two Pricing Executives.
  • Allocate incoming pricing requests across the team according to workload, priority and deadlines.
  • Monitor outstanding enquiries and ensure quotations are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members on more complex or challenging pricing requests.
  • Review quotations to ensure they are accurate, commercially appropriate and presented to the required standard.
  • Monitor individual and team performance against agreed targets and KPIs.
  • Hold regular catch-up with team members and provide coaching, feedback and support.
  • Review monthly pricing and performance reports and identify trends, issues and areas for improvement.
  • Provide management with relevant pricing and performance updates.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex, high-value or commercially sensitive enquiries.
  • Manage pricing requests across Air, Sea, Road and Courier/Express services.
  • Source competitive buying rates from airlines, shipping lines, hauliers, overseas agents and other suppliers.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best possible combination of price and service.
  • Produce accurate customer quotations, ensuring all relevant costs have been considered.
  • Ensure pricing includes applicable freight, fuel/security surcharges, handling, customs, collection, delivery and other associated charges.
  • Calculate appropriate selling rates while maintaining agreed profit margins.
  • Monitor market conditions and keep up to date with changes in freight rates and supplier costs.
  • Review existing customer pricing and identify opportunities to improve margins and profitability.
  • Support the Sales team with pricing for new business, tenders and customer opportunities.
  • Assist with larger, more complex or specialist shipment quotations.
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure proposed services, routings and costs are achievable.
  • Maintain accurate supplier rates, pricing records and rate sheets.
  • Ensure pricing information remains current and readily available to the wider business.
  • Investigate and resolve pricing discrepancies where required.
  • Support the resolution of supplier invoice queries relating to quoted costs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve pricing processes, efficiency and departmental performance.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, agents, Sales and Operations.
  • Balance competitive customer pricing with the need to achieve healthy gross profit and margins.
  • Lead by example and maintain a high standard of professionalism, accuracy and customer service.

Skills & Experience Required for a Senior Pricing Executive

  • Previous experience within freight forwarding, logistics, freight pricing or a similar commercial role.
  • Strong understanding of international freight forwarding and the different modes of transport.
  • Proven experience supervising, mentoring or managing team members.
  • Previous experience working across multiple freight modes would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a clear understanding of profit margins and profitability.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the confidence to deal with suppliers and service providers.
  • Experience using freight forwarding or pricing systems would be advantageous (Boxtop would be advantageous)
  • Existing relationships with airlines, shipping lines, hauliers or overseas freight agents would be beneficial.

Salary & Working Hours

  • Working Pattern: Monday - Friday
  • Hours: 09:00-17:30
  • Location: Egham (Hybrid options)
