A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Air Import Operator to join a well-established freight forwarding company based in the Staines area. You will join a busy import operations team, managing general freight shipments and ensuring all import documentation, customs requirements and customer expectations are handled accurately and efficiently.
Duties & Responsibilities of an Air Import Operator:
- Coordinate Air Import shipments from arrival through to final delivery.
- Complete and process customs import entries accurately and in line with company procedures.
- Handle Dangerous Goods shipments in accordance with IATA regulations.
- Liaise with airlines, handling agents, customers, overseas offices and transport providers.
- Prepare and check import documentation, including MAWBs, HAWBs, customs paperwork and arrival documentation.
- Monitor shipments and provide customers with regular updates throughout the import process.
- Resolve operational issues and delays quickly and effectively.
- Ensure files are completed, costed and invoiced accurately within agreed timescales.
The Successful Air Import Operator:
- Previous experience within Air Import Freight Forwarding is essential.
- Strong understanding of customs import entries and clearance procedures.
- Experience handling Dangerous Goods would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Good knowledge of Air Import documentation, including MAWBs and HAWBs.
- Excellent communication, organisational and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments within a fast-paced environment.
- Confident using freight forwarding systems and Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to resolving operational issues.
