Take the Next Step in Your Legal Career
Right Match Recruitment Group is working alongside a well-established law firm in Grays to appoint a Head of Conveyancing to oversee and develop its residential property department. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Residential Conveyancing Solicitor who is ready to move into a more senior position, with the chance to influence the direction of a busy department and take an active role in its continued success.
The firm is open to speaking with solicitors who have not previously held a management title but feel ready to take on additional responsibility and progress their careers.
The Position
You will be joining an established department with an existing team of fee earners and dedicated support staff. Working closely with the firm's Managing Directors, you will have responsibility for maintaining the smooth running of the department while helping colleagues develop and ensuring clients receive an excellent service. Your role will combine technical conveyancing work with people management, operational oversight and opportunities to build new business relationships.
Key areas of focus will include:
- Taking responsibility for the overall performance and organisation of the conveyancing department.
- Supporting colleagues with technical queries and more complex residential property matters.
- Encouraging development and progression within the team through mentoring and guidance.
- Ensuring transactions are handled efficiently and clients receive regular, effective communication.
- Maintaining appropriate standards across compliance, risk management and file quality.
- Looking at ways to streamline processes and improve the department's working practices.
- Strengthening relationships with local property professionals, estate agents and mortgage brokers.
- Identifying opportunities to attract new instructions and increase the department's profile.
- Working with the directors to support future business plans and departmental objectives.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Residential Conveyancing Solicitor with approximately 5 years' PQE or more. You will have a strong understanding of the residential property market, including freehold and leasehold transactions, and be confident managing your own workload. Just as importantly, you will enjoy supporting others, have a natural ability to build relationships and be commercially aware. You do not need to have previously been a Head of Conveyancing. This could be an ideal move for a Senior Conveyancing Solicitor or experienced Fee Earner who is ready to step away from a purely fee-earning position and take on a broader leadership role.
Package and Benefits
- Salary between £55,000 and £60,000, depending on experience.
- Monday to Friday, 9.00am-5.00pm.
- 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
- A further 3-4 days' leave over the Christmas period.
- Pension scheme.
- Established team and supportive working environment.
- Opportunity to progress into a senior leadership position.
Working Arrangements
The role is primarily office-based in Grays, Essex, as the position involves leading, supporting and developing an established team. There may be some flexibility around hybrid working for the right candidate. However, given the leadership responsibilities, the firm would ideally like someone who values an active office presence and enjoys being involved in the day-to-day running of the department.
Right Match Recruitment Group is managing this vacancy and would welcome a confidential conversation to tell you more about the firm and the position.
