The Opportunity: Internal Communications and Engagement Officer

The Internal Communications and Engagement Officer plays a pivotal role in shaping and sustaining a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture that reflects RLG’s values and mission. This role is not only about delivering messages it’s about fostering connection, trust, and belonging across the organisation.

Acting as a cultural ambassador, the officer ensures that employees feel informed, valued, and engaged through thoughtful communication and meaningful experiences. They champion initiatives that celebrate diversity, promote wellbeing, and build a sense of community, helping to embed RLG’s culture into everyday interactions and decision-making.

By aligning internal messaging with strategic goals and employee sentiment, this role supports a culture where people thrive, collaborate, and contribute to a shared purpose.

🔑 What You’ll Do: Key Responsibilities

Employee Engagement Strategy Development

  • Design and implement employee engagement strategies that align with RLG\’s mission, vision, and core values.
  • Identify key engagement focus areas, such as recognition, work-life balance, and career development.
  • Track employee engagement levels, analyse trends, and identify areas for improvement.

Culture and Values Initiatives

  • Develop and implement programs that foster a positive company culture and align with RLG values.
  • Organise and manage team-building activities, internal campaigns, and wellness initiatives to enhance workplace morale and collaboration.
  • Ensure company values are consistently communicated through internal communications, leadership actions, and employee programs.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Initiatives

  • Work closely with senior leadership and the people team to develop and execute a comprehensive DEI strategy.
  • Organise DEI training sessions, workshops, and awareness campaigns to promote inclusivity and equity within the workplace.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with external organisations to attract diverse talent and enhance recruitment efforts.
  • Regularly evaluate and update the DEI strategy based on feedback and evolving organisational needs.

Internal Communications and Information Dissemination

  • Oversee the creation and distribution of internal communications, including emails, newsletters, and intranet updates, ensuring consistency and alignment with company goals.
  • Coordinate logistics and content for business updates, coffee mornings, and all-hands meetings to ensure smooth execution and effective employee engagement.
  • Draft and edit internal announcements and leadership messages to ensure clarity and transparency.

Culture Champions Program

  • Identify and empower culture champions within RLG who advocate for company values and lead engagement initiatives.
  • Provide resources and support to culture champions to help them drive engagement and create a positive environment.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of culture initiatives and make improvements based on feedback.

Employee Recognition Programs

  • Develop and manage recognition programs to celebrate employee achievements, milestones, and contributions.
  • Ensure recognition programs are inclusive, equitable, and align with company values.
  • Work closely with the people team to ensure that recognition programs are integrated into broader talent management strategies.

Employee Feedback and Data Analysis

  • Design and conduct regular employee surveys (e.g., engagement surveys, pulse checks) to gather feedback on job satisfaction, leadership, culture, and overall work environment.
  • Analyse survey data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the People Partner and the People & Performance Manager to develop and implement action plans based on survey results.
  • Monitor the success of implemented action plans and adjust strategies as needed to address ongoing employee concerns.

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Work with various departments, including the People and Leadership Team, to integrate engagement and culture-building initiatives into broader business objectives.
  • Ensure that engagement programs are consistent across all teams and resonate with employees at all levels of RLG.
  • Plan and deliver initiatives with commercial awareness in mind—ensuring that timing, resource allocation, and business impact are considered to minimise disruption and maximise value across departments.

Event Coordination and Logistics

  • Plan and coordinate logistics for events that promote engagement, such as team-building activities, employee appreciation events, DEI training sessions, and more.
  • Manage external partnerships to support diversity and inclusion.

Reporting and Continuous Improvement

  • Provide regular reports to leadership on the progress of employee engagement, culture programs, and DEI initiatives.
  • Gather and analyse feedback from employees to continuously improve engagement and culture initiatives.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices related to employee engagement, workplace culture, and DEI, ensuring RLG remains competitive in creating a positive work environment.
