Role Description

The Credit Controller role is a full‑time position based in Leeds with a hybrid working arrangement, combining office‑based work with some work from home.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities include managing customer credit accounts, monitoring debtor balances, and ensuring timely payment of invoices.

The role involves conducting credit checks, assessing credit risk, and setting or reviewing credit limits in line with company policies.

The Credit Controller will proactively follow up on overdue accounts, handle debt collection activities in a professional manner, and resolve account queries by liaising with internal teams and customers.

The role also includes maintaining accurate financial records, preparing credit and debt reports for management, and contributing to continuous improvement of credit control processes.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in Credit Control and Credit Management, with the ability to manage multiple customer accounts effectively.
  • Practical skills in Debt Collection and working with Debtors, using professional communication to recover overdue balances.
  • Solid understanding of Finance principles, including accounts receivable, reconciliation, and cash flow impact.
  • Proficiency with accounting or CRM systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel) for reporting and data analysis.
  • Excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to build constructive relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Previous experience in a credit control or similar finance role; professional finance or credit qualifications are an advantage.
