The Role
We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our growing finance team on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Management Accountant, you'll play a key role across Accounts Payable, Adhoc Accounts Receivable, and Management accounts support, helping to keep the day-to-day financial operations of the business running smoothly while gaining exposure to the monthly reporting cycle. This is a hands-on role offering visibility across the full finance function, ideal for someone looking to develop their accounting career in a fast-paced, global agency environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Accounts Payable (AP)
- Manage the end-to-end accounts payable process
- Process supplier invoices, ensuring correct coding, approvals, and accuracy
- Match invoices to purchase orders and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and support payment runs on NatWest (bi-weekly)
- Maintain and reconcile the aged creditors ledger
- Handle supplier queries and build strong working relationships
- Set up and maintain supplier records
- Management Accounts Support
- Assist the Management Accountant with month-end close, including posting journals (accruals, prepayments, depreciation and corrections)
- Help prepare balance sheet reconciliations and support the resolution of reconciling items
- Support WIP reporting - pulling and checking data from Synergist ahead of monthly reviews
- Assist with intercompany reconciliations between UK and US entities
- Help maintain supporting schedules used in management reporting (e.g. prepayments, cost accruals, fixed assets)
- Support the preparation of month-end reporting packs and finance workbook updates
- Assist with variance analysis by gathering and organising underlying transaction data
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives across the wider finance function
- General Finance Support
- Process and reconcile employee expenses and corporate card transactions from Pleo
- Support General Accounting Systems Management
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Support with annual audit queries
- Provide ad-hoc support to the wider finance team as required
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant / Assistant Accountant role covering AP
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good numerical and analytical skills
- Experience with financial systems (Accounts IQ a plus)
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills, both internal and external
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset
- An interest in progressing towards month-end and management accounts work overtime
Desirable:
- Studying towards (or interested in studying) AAT, ACCA, or CIMA
- Experience in an agency or fast-paced environment
