An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a growing and ambitious property services business delivering refurbishment, maintenance, compliance, and construction projects across both residential and commercial sectors. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will take ownership of the company's Health & Safety function, ensuring compliance, driving best practice, and embedding a positive safety culture throughout the business. This is a hands-on role requiring regular site visits, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to influence teams at all levels of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's Health & Safety Management System.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety reviews across multiple projects.
- Produce and review risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Support operational teams in planning safe project delivery.
- Deliver health and safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness initiatives.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance and promote high safety standards throughout the supply chain.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, and site personnel.
- Maintain accurate health and safety records, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders as required.
- Drive a proactive safety culture focused on continuous improvement and employee wellbeing.
About You
The successful candidate will be a confident and proactive Health & Safety professional with experience working within construction, property services, refurbishment, maintenance, or a related sector.
Essential Requirements
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum).
- Proven Health & Safety management experience within construction, refurbishment, maintenance, or property services.
- Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Experience carrying out audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence behavioural change and promote a positive safety culture.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
- Membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH or above).
- Experience working with social housing, local authority, commercial, or residential projects.
- Experience managing ISO standards and compliance frameworks.
- Environmental management experience.
