We are seeking an exceptional MEP Lead to spearhead the delivery of a high-value, hyperscale mission critical data centre project in Newcastle.

This is a career-defining opportunity for a senior MEP professional with a proven track record of leading complex mechanical, electrical and public health packages on major data centre, pharmaceutical, semiconductor or other mission critical facilities.

You will play a pivotal role in driving technical excellence, programme certainty and operational readiness on one of the UK's most significant digital infrastructure developments.

Reporting directly to the Project Director, you will provide strategic leadership across all MEP disciplines from design coordination through construction, commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the complete MEP delivery strategy for a major mission critical data centre project.
  • Provide technical and operational leadership across Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health workstreams.
  • Drive design management, value engineering and technical compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams, specialist subcontractors, consultants and commissioning providers.
  • Ensure programme milestones, quality standards and budget objectives are achieved.
  • Oversee commissioning, integrated systems testing and operational readiness activities.
  • Act as the senior MEP representative when engaging with clients, stakeholders and executive leadership teams.
  • Champion health, safety and quality standards across all MEP operations.
  • Identify and mitigate delivery risks while maintaining programme certainty.
  • Support project reporting, governance and strategic decision-making at board level.
  • Candidate Profile

We are looking for an industry leader who possesses

  • Proven leadership of MEP packages valued in excess of £100m.
  • Deep understanding of data centre infrastructure including power distribution, cooling systems, UPS, generators and critical environments.
  • Strong commissioning and handover experience within live or critical operating environments.
  • Demonstrable success managing large multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and client-facing capabilities.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to influence project outcomes and strategic delivery plans.
  • Degree qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
  • Professional membership (MCIBSE, MIET, MIMech E or equivalent) desirable.
