CPL UK Healthcare (formally RIG Locums) are currently looking for a Old Age Specialty doctor, NHS based in Gosport, Hampshire area.

The role offers highly negotiable rates for a dedicated psychiatrist. The trust seeks an enthusiastic Specialty doctor in Old Age Psychiatry to work full-time and it would be excellent for someone wanting to broaden their experience of community and develop their clinical skills in a supportive and challenging environment. The team is well established with good support from senior clinical and managerial colleagues.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical support into the Older Persons Mental Health Community Psychiatry Team. They will see patients in their outpatient clinics primarily and through a home visit occasionally.

Memory assessments are undertaken, primarily in clinic, by all of the doctors in the team as
well as the memory nurse. The clinic assesses patients with early and advanced memory
problems, including those under the age of 65 and those with complex presentations.
Treatment with Acetyl-cholinesterase Inhibitors is initiated in Secondary Care and efficacy is
monitored following the NICE and Shared Care Protocol Guidelines. There is access to a
specialized early onset dementia clinic in the local General Hospital. There is also access to Neuropsychological assessments through the local Psychologists. There is also access to functional brain imaging (DAT, SPECT) scans in the department of Nuclear Medicine in the General Hospital. The service
encourages the development of nurse prescribers and a nurse led service under supervision
from the consultant.
