Cpl UK Healthcare (formally RIG Locums) are currently looking for an Old Age Consultant, NHS based in Preston, Lancashire. The role offers highly negotiable rates for a dedicated psychiatrist. The trust seeks an enthusiastic Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry to work full-time and it would be excellent for someone wanting to broaden their experience of community psychiatry and develop their clinical skills in a supportive and challenging environment. The team is well established with good support from senior clinical and managerial colleagues.

We are seeking to recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist to work as part of the Rapid Intervention and Treatment Team (RITT) and Memory Assessment Services (MAS) team.

  • You would be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and as Consultant you would provide clinical leadership to the teams, with 4 PAs allocated to the RITT and PAs in the MAS team along with a Consultant colleague. All referrals pass through a single point of access and are allocated a Care Co-ordinator who will liaise with the doctor regarding diagnosis and treatment as appropriate. Both the RITT and MAS teams are supported by multiple Consultant colleagues

  • Key Responsibilities:

    Community Duties (RITT)

  • The post holder will be responsible for approximately 40 patients (half of the caseload for the
    RITT)
  • The post holder will participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings with the team
  • The post holder will provide clinical leadership to the RITT
  • The post holder will be providing regular supervision/consultation slots to the team in line with
  • New Ways of Working
  • The post holder will arrange CPA/clinic reviews for service users needing face to face
    assessments/ complex case scenarios and diagnostic clarity and formulating management
    plan
  • The post holder will be expected to provided 4 clinical sessions to the RITT team in the job
    plan
  • The number of clinics will be 2 with 3 new patients in each session or 2 home visits in 1
    session
  • There would be an expectation to see both new and follow up patients
  • For Memory Services the expectation would be to see 3 New patients in 1 clinical session
  • There will be adequate time for admin in the clinics
  • The rest of the clinical time will be devoted to team meeting, 1:1 consultations and clinical
    admin
  • The post holder will be expected to provide cross cover to the RITT Consultant in the Preston
    locality during periods of leave and the same Consultant will provide cover vice versa to the
    post holder
  • They will also be supported by MTI (Medical Training Initiative) Doctor posted in RITT and
    MAS teams
  • There are no inpatient responsibilities attached to this role
  • Memory Assessment Services

  • The post holder will be expected to provide sessional time to Memory Assessment Service
    involving consultations to the team and diagnostic clinics
  • The post holder will be expected to see 3 new patients in the memory clinics per session.
  • The role of the post holder will be expected to provide diagnosis, and assisting with post
    diagnostic treatment and support along with the team
  • The post holder will be expected to provided clinical sessions to the Memory assessment
    services

  • Full GMC License to practice
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Relevant previous experience working in this type of position
  • Section 12/RC approval is essential
