Job Description:
CPL UK Healthcare (formerly RIG Locums) is seeking a General Adult Consultant, NHS based in Basildon, Essex.
The role offers competitive rates for a dedicated psychiatrist. The trust seeks an enthusiastic Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry for part-time work, ideal for those looking to broaden their experience in community psychiatry and develop clinical skills in a supportive environment. The team is well-established with strong support from senior clinical and managerial colleagues.
The Consultant will provide clinical leadership for assessing and managing general adult inpatients admitted to the PICU, a 15-bed Psychiatry Intensive Care Unit. The post holder will also lead in medical leadership for flow and capacity management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership for assessment and management of PICU inpatients.
- Responsible for approximately one-third of current bed occupancy, typically up to 5 patients admitted from across Essex.
- Conduct weekly ward reviews, Care Programme Approach meetings, ad hoc reviews, and seclusion/segregation reviews during working hours.
- Lead in flow and capacity management.
- Offer expertise in managing complex cases.
- Provide clinical leadership to team members.
- Assess referrals and admissions.
- Participate in care planning, treatment formulation, and evidence-based guidance.
- Maintain collaboration with other services and agencies.
- Contribute to Mental Health Act implementation on the ward.
- Follow principles of multidisciplinary, multi-agency, and partnership working.
