Job Description:
CPL UK Healthcare (formerly RIG Locums) is seeking a CAMHS Consultant for an NHS role in Colchester, Essex. The position offers negotiable rates for a dedicated psychiatrist. The trust looks for an enthusiastic and compassionate doctor seeking a role with a good balance of challenge and flexibility. You will work with experienced clinicians supporting your career development.
The team provides care for young people aged 13 to 18, with a 15-bed Generic Adolescent Unit and a 10-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit. You will work across both wards with up to 5 patients each, as part of an MDT including other consultants, specialty doctors, and trainees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage up to 10 young people across the wards, including screening referrals, assessments, and participating in complex case meetings with the East of England team. Contribute to MDT meetings and liaise with community teams, especially NELFT trust in Essex, managing transitions and working with regional inpatient and community services.
- Assess and treat young people with complex, high-risk presentations, primarily admitted on a formal basis, requiring AC approval.
- Review treatment progress with colleagues, including medication management, mental state assessments, ward reviews, CPA meetings, and care planning. Prepare reports and attend MHRT hearings as needed. Trainee doctors may assist under supervision.
- Participate in clinical governance, quality, and management meetings.
- Collaborate with colleagues to cover absences due to leave or sickness.
- Join the local peer group of consultants.
