Your Role:
- The prime role of a Legal Secretary is to provide secretarial support to the care team lawyers.
- To exercise high standards of client care at all times in a professional and pleasant manner.
- To ensure confidentiality and security of all the firm’s and client documentation and information.
- To maintain clear and precise communication with other personnel within the firm.
- To ensure good working relationships with external institutions and organisations.
- To undertake any reasonable task as requested.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Typing documents including court documents, emails and file notes, etc for the fee earner’s.
- Preparing legal aid applications.
- Opening files on the case management system.
- Answering calls and assisting clients with enquiries.
- Liaising with clients/professionals to arrange appointments/meetings, etc.
- Dealing with incoming emails/post and corresponding as appropriate.
- Ensuring the case management database is continually kept updated.
- Ensuring files are fully time recorded for billing.
- Assisting other fee earners within the team.
- Ensuring the experts’ register is updated.
- Providing cover for other secretaries in their absence.
Person specification - key skills/qualifications required:
- Previous experience of working within a Care department at a firm of solicitors, or other similar experience.
- Good telephone manner.
- Good typing skills and use of digital dictation.
- Highly motivated.
- Highly organised.
- Willingness to take on new tasks.
- Proactive and using initiative.
- Able to prioritise workloads of different fee earners.
