We have a fantastic opportunity for a Family Solicitor to join our growing business, open to discussion on office based at either Huddersfield, Barnsley or Leeds.
Your Role
The prime role of a solicitor within the family team is to undertake fee earner work, promote the image and ethos of the firm, and adhere to agreed practice and quality standards. Must be prepared to work across all four offices from time to time. It will also involve assisting the head of the family team in supervising more junior fee earners, and conducting file reviews. There is an opportunity for hybrid working and a great opportunity to join a growing, tight-knit team.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Undertake compliance with and be fully aware of all aspects of requirements imposed on a Solicitor by the Solicitors Act, Solicitors’ Accounts Rules, Trustee Accounts Rules and all other statutory and Law Society rules and regulations.
- Day-to-day handling of a wide variety of cases including divorce, private children, non-molestation orders and financial relief.
- Run own case load under supervision and be able to pick up cases part way through.
- Attend court on directions hearings, first appointments and financial dispute resolution appointments.
- Take instructions from clients, draft documents and letters, conduct matters on behalf of clients and work as part of the team.
- Contribute to business development and marketing activities.
- Prepare Legal Aid applications and liaise with the Legal Aid Agency, as necessary.
- Achieve agreed personal targets in respect of fee income and recording of chargeable time; assist in developing new opportunities and services offered by the firm.
- Experience of supervising staff and conducting file reviews; travel to all offices as required; participate in team-wide duties and marketing.
- Support the team as required and supervise file supervision when needed; be self-sufficient in generating new work.
Person Specification – Key Skills / Qualifications
- High level of knowledge and excellent client care skills.
- Proficient in charging for services and knowledge of eligibility criteria for legal aid; conversant with legal aid rules.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with a focus on high-quality client care.
- Strong interpersonal and marketing skills with the ability to develop contacts for the firm.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines; strong decision-making skills.
- Experience in advocacy.
- Experience in private children, domestic abuse, divorce and finances within divorce; TOLATA experience is advantageous.
- Experience in drafting; self-motivated; able to bring in own work.
