We are currently looking for a HGV driver to join our team, based in St Martins, near Oswestry.

Ridgway Rentals is a family owned and run company based in St. Martins near Oswestry and have been supplying Nationwide Plant Hire for over 50 years. We take great pride in the excellent service we provide to our customers and expect our staff to reflect these qualities at all times.

Person specification

Applicants must hold C+E licence, both experienced and new drivers are welcome to apply. Experience with plant machinery is desirable, however, full training will be provided to the correct candidate. Applicants must be flexible to complete both long distance work (including nights out) as well as short distance work, varying on a week-by-week basis.

The job role of an HGV driver includes the following duties:

  • Operating commercial vehicles, including rigid trucks, articulated lorries and trailer wagons
  • Driving long or short distances (including nights away)
  • Planning delivery schedules and routes with transport managers
  • Loading and unloading Plant machinery
  • Ensuring load security is at the highest possible standard
  • Following traffic reports and adapting routes if necessary
  • Following notified routes if the load dictates this
  • Following specific or designated routes, when requested by our clients or transport office staff
  • Completing delivery and collection paperwork accurately
  • Keeping up-to-date records
  • Carrying out basic routine maintenance, and accurate daily defect checks
  • Presenting vehicles for planned and unplanned maintenance on time, and in a presentable state

Our Plant Hire Fleet consists of hydraulic excavators, dozers, dump trucks and other heavy plant machinery by Komatsu, JCB, Hitachi etc.
