This is an onsite role based at our manufacturing facility.
The Store Person / Goods Inwards role is critical to the efficient control and flow of stock within the business. You will be responsible for the receipt, inspection, storage, picking and issuing of materials to production, as well as preparing goods for customer shipment. Working closely with Quality, Purchasing, Design and Production teams, you will ensure that all materials received from suppliers meet company specifications and quality standards, and that production is supported through accurate and timely kitting. This role plays a key part in maintaining stock accuracy, supporting on-time delivery performance, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
The principal purpose of the Store Person / Goods Inwards role is to control stock effectively, ensure accurate goods receipt and inspection, and deliver materials to production in a timely and compliant manner.
Responsibilities- Receive goods from suppliers and carry out checks to ensure quantities and items match delivery notes and original purchase orders.
- Perform visual inspections as required to confirm goods meet company quality standards, drawing specifications and aesthetic requirements, liaising with the Quality Engineer/Quality Manager where necessary.
- Accurately and promptly enter received goods data into the Factory Master MRP system.
- Transfer items to appropriate stores or production locations using correct transport and storage methods.
- Pick and kit works orders in a timely manner, identifying shortages to support on-time, in-full delivery performance.
- Process non-conforming goods through the Factory Master MRP system, package and arrange returns, liaising with the Quality Engineer/Quality Manager.
- Control the process for outside finishing, including documentation, delivery and collection coordination.
- Take responsibility for stock control, including stock accuracy, location management, stock taking and reporting.
- Pack spares and sales orders, ensuring all shipment paperwork is accurate and complete.
- Carry out forklift movements on and off vehicles and within the factory, including operation of pallet racking systems.
- Liaise with suppliers as required to support goods receipt and quality processes.
- Ensure accurate receipt and control of stock.
- Confirm that parts received for production meet company requirements and specifications.
- Maintain kitting accuracy and support on-time delivery to production.
- Assist in reducing quality issues by working collaboratively with Purchasing, Design and Suppliers.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within stores and goods inwards processes.
- Extensive experience working within a stores or goods inwards environment.
- Experience using a warehouse management system (MRP/ERP).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience using inspection equipment such as Verniers, micrometres and height gauges (desirable).
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as JIT, Kanban and Lean principles.
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised.
- Comfortable working to established procedures.
- Strong character with a proactive, can-do attitude.
- Well organised and efficient, with excellent attention to detail.
- Team player with a flexible approach to business needs.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- Manual handling capability required.
- Forklift Licence (Counterbalance) or willingness to undertake training.
- Full Driving Licence.
- PC literate.
- Salary dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed from the outset.
- 37.5 hour working week, Friday finish at 1.30pm for production teams.
