The role is varied and would suit an individual who has previous GP Practice experience, can prioritise and organise a busy workload, use own initiative, and has excellent attention to detail. A good understanding of EMIS Web computer system is desirable. Excellent communication and IT skills are required. Patients predominantly in the student age group.

The interview process will consist of a telephone call followed by a face-to-face meeting.

Main duties of the job:
  • To ensure that all enquiries are efficiently and courteously handled via face to face, by phone and those received electronically.
  • To receive and direct patients on arrival.
  • To record patients' details on notes accurately and neatly.
  • To respond to and process information received regarding patients' change of details.
  • To deal with telephone calls.
  • To take messages for clinicians and other staff and ensure that they are passed on quickly and accurately.
  • To receive and record requests for home visits and ensure that they are passed to the on-call doctor quickly.
  • Return records to NHSE when a patient is removed from the list.
  • Experience of EMIS web or similar web-based database desirable. However, full training will be given by the Reception Manager.
  • To enter registration details of newly registered patients onto the database and to keep these records up to date when patient details change ensuring accuracy of information.
  • To book/cancel patient appointments on the computerised appointment system.
  • To send and receive emails.
  • To be available as required for extra hours of overtime when required.
  • On-going training and personal development is encouraged.
  • To attend general meetings and receptionist meetings when required.
  • Any other duties that may be required.

About us: Ridgmount Practice is a friendly, caring & innovative practice. We are based close to University College, London (UCL). The practice has a highly motivated and loyal team. There is a core of practice staff who have been employed at the Practice for more than 5 years. This is extremely beneficial as it creates an atmosphere of continuity in patient care and provides a pool of experience that ensures stability throughout the practice. We have a team of 9 doctors, 3 nurses, 3 Physician Associates, 1 Clinical Pharmacist and 9 admin staff.

  • GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths.
  • Experience of working in a General Practice and of EMIS Web.
  • NHS GP practice experience, can prioritise and organise a busy workload, use own initiative, and has excellent attention to detail.
